About The Artist

Australian Born, Paula Andersen Now lives and works from her studio in a beautiful seaside town on the eastern coast. Always interested in art from a young age, Paula followed her passion to Art college where she studied and successfully finished a fashion design course in 1981. Since leading college she spent the first 18 years as a designer and illustrator in corporate wear and high end lingerie.

Coming from a commercial background, Paula has little chance to fully explore her creative side in the early part of her career. Thus the decision in 1998 to focus her attention on the art world verses the fashion world. The past twenty years have been very successful for Paula, with most of her artworks commissioned. Her debut exhibition in 2000 saw two of her artworks successfully published with a worldwide distribution.

Paula has successfully exhibited as a solo artist and in joint exhibitions including Brisbane, Sydney, Gold Coast and Byron Bay. Her work now proudly graces the walls of private collectors from New York, Dubai to Byron Bay.

Paula says of her art “I love nature and I love the human form but more than this, I love to tell a story. It is a story between the artist and the subject… a story that captures that rare moment whee they open up and show you their innermost being. If I can capture this and bring this to life in my work, I know that I have succeeded and this brings a lot of happiness for both myself and my subject”

Paula works with a variety of medium, from acrylic and pastels to oil on canvas layering and combining touches of gold dust, poetry and textured printing. She says “I am very fortunate, as I have a gift and I have this chance”
