Brian Cook

About The Artist

Mount Tamborine has been fortunate that master Artist Brian Cook had adopted us as his second home. Living in Jimboomba and travelling twice a month to hold workshops at local artist Ron Bryant’s Wisteria Cottage Studio, Brian was imparted his enthusiasm and passion for painting landscapes to many dozens of students and art teachers over the past four years.

Brian was a master of contemporary/impressionistic painting, his works are of enormous appeal to collectors both here and overseas…

Born in Yorkshire, at an early age he was recognised as a promising young artist winning many prestigious prizes for his pen and ink drawings. Later on he turned his hand to painting with oils, and was influenced by the works of the great English painters such as Constable and Turner.

On his arrival in Australia as a young man, Brian worked and lived in Melbourne and was strongly impressed with the Australian Post Impressionists, Streeton, Roberts and McCubbins use of strong light and colour in Australian landscapes….this can been seen as an influence in most of Brains paintings.
